Cessation

As a sort of back-handed definition, all gods are immortal.  We don’t often state that, but it’s something we believe.  In general, we believe that only other immortals can end the life of a god.  A single human, or group of humans, cannot therefor kill a god.

Human individuals are mortal.  Humans as a species are (so far) immortal.  So a human society can kill a god.  Because a god needs devotion in order to exist, humans can “kill” gods by forgetting them.

Monsters however can be killed by individuals or groups of individuals.  Their life force can be taken away, or at least greatly diminished by individuals.  We believe this because we must believe it to remain sane.
